Shopify AI
Shopify AI

Agent,
Agent
Shopify
Google
Ignitiv

Shopivy AI trading orders increased 13 times.
Shopivy AI trading orders increased 13 times.
On the morning of October 16th, Apple 1 folding screen phone iPhone Duo opened the pre-purchase. The 1999 United States dollar was sold, the first production capacity was tight, and the delivery date was set for next January.
This time it's not just someone who's standing in front of the screen.
This year, Agent became the iPhone Duo's most severe father's photo source: Apple
At the MacRumors Forum, an unscathed user spits out in anger, and Reddit has taken several of his own Muse robots in a breath, and the real people have been wiped out by AI before it's too late.
Muse is the individual Agent, launched by Meta on September 8th, and once on the top American App Store free list, downloads quickly exceeding 2.5 million. Meta suggests that shopping has become one of the most used scenes in Muse. Just before and after the iPhone Duo was opened, Muse also sent a new version of the new machine, and the next line in the update is to make the shopping in the chat easier.
AI has gone shopping for people, from a demonstration at the publish conference, into the real robbery scene.
But not every shop is open to these new customers. In late September, the Amazon began to ban Muse. By October, the users of Grok Bot under the Musk flag had hit the same warning when they placed the order on the Amazon, and unauthorized AI agents continued to visit, violating Amazon usage.
Another company, Shopify, went the opposite way. On September 21st, Shopify CEO Tobi Lütke announced that he would work in depth with Muse to make it possible for Muse to finish the booking in all Shopify stores.
And Shopify's financial report has given early returns on the road. In the first quarter of this year, orders from AI were nearly 13 times greater than in the same year, and the number of store traffic brought by AI was eight times higher.
Close the door and open it. When more and more shopping decisions are given to Agent, will it become the key variable in the ranking of the AI-era electrician?
01
The space behind 13 times the growth.
The most active "player" in this round of AI shopping booms.
In the fourth quarter of 2025, it reported a 15-fold increase in AI-driven orders. In the first quarter of 2026, the number of shop traffic generated by AI increased eight times, the number of orders generated by AI searches grew nearly 13 times, and the number of new buyers' orders from AI searches increased nearly twice as fast as the traditional nature search. In the same quarter, Shopify handed over the fastest rate of growth in more than four years.
By the second quarter, the multiple fell three times, and AI brought three times as many traffic and orders as it did in the same period last year. But the structure of this season is more durable, 75% of AI is attributed to an AI search done through the Shopify Catalog, which is twice the normal AI search.
This set of data indicates that "growth is fast" rather than "sizing."
Shopivy was very frank. At the second quarter conference, President Harley Finkelstein admitted that the volume of transactions of anticipatory commerce was still small in relation to the huge platform of the GMV. So far, Shopify has not disclosed the absolute value or percentage of the AI channel GMV, which is $116 billion in the second quarter.

From 15 to 13 times to three times, the multiple is shrinking rapidly, a typical curve where the small base effect fades. The calibration is also changing, with the first quarter referring to "AI search orders" and the second quarter replacing "AI-driven traffic and orders" with "AI-driven traffic and orders" and the two sets of numbers may not be able to form a continuous trend line.
The second quarter of the second quarter of the year saw an increase of 34 per cent to $3.6 billion. And what really holds up is the 32% GMV growth, the 68% increase in the Shapivy Payments penetration rate, and the 53% increase in the Shop Pay GMV. Finkelstein also made it clear that there were no additional costs involved in the transactions that Agent brought with it, as was the transaction fee for the ordinary online store. In other words, the contribution of Agent's order to the collection can only be hidden in GMV and the payment, and cannot be removed from it alone.
But 13 times what it means is not how much it pays today, but what it proves is that Agent can bring a customer that Shopify could not have.
The first signal is the new buyer. New orders for customers from AI channels are increasing at about twice the rate of other channels, and Shopify specifically emphasizes that traditional search remains one of the largest sources of traffic for businesses and is still growing. That is, AI is not just moving the traffic that was originally the search, it's bringing an increase.
The second signal is long end. 75% of the AI orders fall outside the head class, which happens to be the basic plate of Shopify. Millions of stand-alone shops, which were hard to get caught in the search for advertising and the price of electric power platforms, were better suited to matching their products with specific needs, and for the first time had the chance of being "finded."
In May this year, Shopify added an agentic board to the backstage to show the business, where he could see orders and conversions from ChatGPT, Copilot, Google AI Mode, Gemini and his own Shop App. What Shopivy is doing is putting Agent from a concept to a visible distribution channel in the back of a business.
02
It's not the Amazon.
It's someone else's, Agent.
Amazon's hard on the outside Agent, long history.
In November 2025, Amazon sued Perplexity for unauthorized access to the Amazon system for shopping in its Comet browser. In March this year, the Court granted the preliminary injunction and Perplexity has been appealed to the Ninth Circuit Court.
Muse is the second. The reasons given by the Amazon are very specific, and Meta never informed Muse that he would visit the Amazon store, that the Muse browsing does not identify himself, and that it is suspected of capturing and storing the user's account vouchers. After asking Meta to remove Amazon from Muse, the Amazon was refused, and was banned.
Grok Bot is probably the third. There is no public confirmation in Amazon, but many users have tanned out the same intercept signs. Mask suggested to the user that Bot buy it somewhere else and get out of his own Bot on the Lego network, and then he added, "Maybe we should be a rival of the Amazon."
Security concerns are not without them. Recently, a Canadian user made a public complaint that Muse agreed to the buyer's offer on the Marketplace without seeking his consent and also sent his home address to the other party. Agent, with the user's account, is operating everywhere, and there's no clear answer today.
But security is just the reason on the stage, under the stage is business.
One of you, Agent, won't see a sponsor, will not be moved by the first page. In 2024, the Amazon gained more than $56 billion in advertising, a business based on the premise that "people roam the Amazon". In Amazonia v. Perplexity, the complaint referred to the trouble caused by Agent's access to advertising statistics.
The Amazon has its own AI Shopping Assistant Rufus pic:SeekWire
Interestingly, Amazon is not against Agent itself.
It has its own shop assistant, Rufus, with more than 300 million users in 2025. In May this year, Rufus and the upgraded Alexa+ merged into Alexa for Shoping, directly into the Amazon main search box. It's also going out, the Buy for Me function allows Amazon's AI to file for other brands, and by March of this year the Shop Direct has recorded over 100 million items from over 400,000 businesses.
A more subtle step took place in April this year, when Amazon joined the UCP technical committee of the Agent Trading Agreement, led by Google and Shopify.
Amazon's logic is very clear that it can send Agent to someone else's house to buy something, but someone else's Agent can't just come to Amazon to buy something.
Shopivy chose the opposite, as did the business model.
None of the super shelves that allow consumers to "swam" every day serve millions of separate shops, with revenues from subscriptions and payments, rather than advertising. For it, ChatGPT, Gemini, Copilot, Muse, every extra Agent, the merchant has one more shop, and nothing needs protection.
According to Shopify, Shopify merchants are found and bought by default in Muse, and commodity data are synchronized through Shopify Catalog. More crucial is the closure of accounts. Shop Pay, which already holds the user's bank card and receipt address, does not need the user's account number code in each store to simulate the operation, but rather to follow a line of settlement approved by Popify.
This is a response to the central reason given by the Amazon ban on Muse, which is safe.
For Agent, which operates in a user browser, Shopify has also prepared a special interface, which provides structured tools on store pages and closing pages so that Agent can complete the list accurately without having to decipher a page that is accessible.
Amazon sells shelves, so it's to keep the flow in front of the shelf; Shopify sells hydroelectric coal, so it's hoped that the pipes will reach every place. The differences between the two families, ostensibly a struggle for security and openness, are essentially the most rational choice for each of the two business models.
03
Aging Agent Trading Network
Muse is just the latest node on this web. Actually, Shopify bets on three levels simultaneously.
The bottom is commodities. Shopify collates more than 1 billion items into structured data, with real-time prices and inventories, and Agent can retrieve them in seconds. It also launched Agenic Plan, a brand that does not open a shop in Shopify, which allows access to Shopify Catalog, which is a conduit that appears in various AIs.
The middle level is protocol. In January this year, the UCP, UCP, Etsy, Wayfair, Target, Wal-Mart, and Visa, MasterCard, Stripe, American Express, Best Buy, etc., co-developed GBP.
UCP protocol full image source: Google
UCP covers the entire process from the discovery of goods, the addition of shopping carts, the settlement of accounts to the sale, and insists that the business remains the subject of the transaction and that the customer relationship is owned by the business. By April, Amazon, Meta, Microsoft, Salesforce and Stripe had joined the Technical Committee, expanding from 5 to 10.
The top level is the closing of accounts. The cumulative amount of transactions processed by Shop Pay has exceeded $40 billion, 75 per cent of the users will be reused within 12 months, and in 2025 the average cost per passenger unit of the Shop Pay order was about 16 per cent higher than the nonShap Pay order. Shopify also launched Checkout Kit, which allows AI applications to embed the entire booking process, including Shop Pay, directly into the dialogue interface.
The control group for this set is Open AI.
In September 2025, Open AI joined Stripe to launch Actic Company Protocol and to go online in ChatGPT, Instant Checkout, allowing the user to file a list without leaving the conversation. The results were withdrawn in six months. By February of this year, there were only about 30 of the Shopify businesses that actually had access to Instant Checkout, and Wal-Mart's data show that the conversion rate of direct payments in ChatGPT is only about one third of the jump back to the official network. Open AI finally admitted that users were willing to study and compare goods in ChatGPT, but not to pay here.
The answer to AI's failure to make its own cashier is to move a cashier's off-the-shelf to Agent. Users trust Shop Pay, who already has his own bank card, and merchants trust their familiar rules for closing accounts, and Agent is only responsible for taking people to this point.
If the road goes through, in the near future, at least three changes will occur in the electricity industry.
The competition dimension has changed from "snatching the traffic, robbing the shelf" to "can it be read by Agent." Commodity data are structured, inventories are in real time, and rules are clear, which directly determine whether a commodity has an opportunity to appear in Agent ' s recommendations. Catalog has twice as many conversions as normal AI searches, as has been shown.
Wallet and billing will become a new moat. Whoever holds the identity of the user, the means of payment and the address of the receipt, is the most trusted intersection in the Agent deal. Muse has access to Link from Stripe and Shop Pay from Shopify, a level that has just begun.
The electrician pattern is divided into open alliances and wall gardens. The market projections quoted by the UCP institutions suggest that by 2030, Agent could account for between 10 and 20 per cent of US electrician consumption, ranging between $190 billion and $385 billion. This number comes from stakeholders and requires a discount, but the direction is not difficult to judge.
The problem is that openness does not amount to no cost.
For merchants, when Agent makes choices for consumers, carefully designed shop pages, and brands that have accumulated over the years, the role will be weakened, and the business may be reduced from a "door shop" to a line of supply data in the eyes of Agent. The ad budget that originally went to the search and electrical platform may also be moved to the recommended results of Agent. XAI had previously announced that the advertiser paid would enter the advice given by Grok.
For Shopify, UCP is an open source agreement, and Stripe sits in two camps at the same time, and even Amazon is on the technical committee. The protocol itself cannot lock anyone, Shopivy's real chips, but only Catalog's data and Shop Pay's user.
And, of course, the age of Agent's trade isn't entirely based. The hardest part for the industry as a whole is responsibility. Agent makes the wrong orders, pays the wrong money, leaks the information, is it the Agent company, wallet, merchant or user? Mask's approach was to make a public commitment, and Grok Bot made a mistake by SpaceX, but it was clearly not an industry programme that could be replicated.
Back to iPhone Duo's first. In that forum forum where Al robbed, there was a question, "Agent became climate this year, does it make it harder for real people to get a new machine?"
This is probably the most real preview of the Age shopping era.
Agent is already the fastest and most tireless customer, and every electrician platform has to answer whether it is a reptile that needs to be protected or a buyer worth fighting for.
Amazon and Shopify gave the exact opposite answer, and the next line for the electrician is likely to start with this choice.
