Data centre stirs the world.
A lot of people may not know a few years ago what a data centre is, it's an engine for modern Internet services, and it's the core of today's AI heat. However, rapid growth in the number of data centres, huge power consumption and environmental impacts are causing public resistance around the globe. According to Data Center Map, there are currently about 12,250 data centres in the world, while in 2021 the figure was about 800, of which the United States had up to 4,767 and Virginia had the highest density. Data centre installed capacity in the United States is 53.73 GW, China 31.90 GW, EU 11.92 GW, Japan 6.58 GW, India 3.55 GW, United Kingdom 2.59 GW. The largest data centre currently in operation globally is a facility in Hao and Hot, China Telecommunications, covering approximately 1 million square metres. SpaceX ' s Colossus project covers 70,000 square metres, Open AI supports Stargate ' s 3.5 square kilometres, and Meta ' s planned Hyperion project in Louisiana covers 11 square kilometres. Global data centres are estimated to have exceeded total electricity consumption in France as a whole.
